The Hotel Los Monteros in Marbella to undergo a complete refurbishment

The five-star luxury Hotel Los Monteros is to undergo a complete refurbishment, the Marbella Town Hall announced this morning, having granted the licence. It is one more of the establishments in the municipality that are undergoing improvement works. On this occasion, the planned investment is 10 million euros.

Permission for the works was approved at this morning’s Local Government Meeting and will reportedly serve to expand the number of rooms and improve facilities;

The refurbishment of Los Monteros joins other hotels such as El Fuerte, San Cristóbal, Don Pepe, Lima, Hard Rock, Don Carlos and Club Med Magna Marbella, formerly Don Miguel;

The new owners of the establishment located in Las Chapas are going to invest 10 million euros, according to the Town Hall;

Los Monteros was inaugurated in 1962 as one of the first five-star restaurants in the city. Its restaurant El Corzo won the first Michelin star for Marbella.

During the last few years, the hotel has been going through different economic problems, although in 2010 the purchase by the Moroccan businessman Judas Azuelos allowed it to recover and avoid disappearance.

But the death of Azuelos in July 2021 revived old ghosts, until finally in early 2022 the purchase by the Swiss fund Bain Capital Credit and Stoneweg Hospitality was announced.

It was 47 million euros for this group, which shortly before had taken over the Andalucía Plaza, managed by H10, now transformed into a Hard Rock, also after a refurbishment.
