Marbella was the first destination in Andalusia and eighth in Spain for tourist and social relevance during 2022, according to the classification prepared by Exceltur within the Atlas of municipal contribution of tourism in Spain, which includes 100 municipalities. The main data is the volume of accommodation on offer, which is accompanied by the jobs created by the sector.

Marbella is in eighth place in this ranking, with 63,802 accommodation places, which also include the homes for tourist use on platforms, which account for 54.5% of the total.
The hotels contribute 26.9%, while 18.3% are key flats, campsites and rural tourism.
The Exceltur report also points out that the municipality has 12,515 tourism jobs, which qualifies as the “social contribution” of each destination analysed;
Marbella is the municipality with most tourist relevance in Andalusia, ahead of Seville (12th) and Malaga (14th);
The Costa del Sol has a large presence in the top 30 with Torremolinos (19th), Benalmádena (21st) and Mijas (27th);
Madrid and Barcelona lead the destinations with the highest volume of accommodation market places in Spain (152,000 and 127,000, respectively) and direct employment linked to tourism (72,912 and 47,143, respectively).
It is followed by eight coastal destinations: Benidorm (93,390 beds and 15,687 jobs), San Bartolomé de Tirajana (89,163 beds and 21.230 jobs), Salou (72,077 vacancies and 5,469 jobs), Adeje (68,993 vacancies and 18,570 jobs) and Calviá (68,478 vacancies and 10,779 jobs).
In eighth place appears Marbella, followed by Arona (57,528 beds and 10,838 jobs), just ahead of the city of Palma de Mallorca (57,413 beds and 27,022 jobs) with its dual status as an urban destination, as well as a coastal holiday destination.
These 10 destinations alone account for almost one million tourist places (849,104), of the 5.2 million in Spain in 2022 (16.2%)
